New Year’s Resolutions NOT to Make

Resolutions NOT to Make

HAPPY NEW YEAR! This weekend we will all ring in 2017, and many of us will start to think about what we can do to make the next year a better one. For some, it is just a matter of thinking about doing things better or differently. For others, we think of making New Year’s Resolutions.

OH NO! Not the dreaded New Year’s Resolutions?! They never work!

Maybe the resolutions you make never work (or last) because you make unrealistic, or even impossible, promises to yourself that you really can’t keep and remain sane at the same time! Sometimes you feel you have to make the promises because your lifestyle choices during the past year weren’t the best. But there are some blanket resolutions that you really shouldn’t make regardless of your frustrations with how things have turned out. Here are a few examples and ways to make things more realistic:

  1. I will stop eating all fattening foods – really? You won’t have a single cookie or scoop of ice cream all year long? Wow! When we grow up can we be super-human too? Be realistic. Be human. Just be careful. Maybe the idea is to watch what you eat and if you like, keep a food journal to keep track of your eating habits.
  1. I will go to the gym three times a week – Or maybe you promise yourself that you will call your mother three times a week, clean the house twice a week or have a weekly date night with your significant other. Remember that the year is 12 months long so don’t make promises to yourself that are so restrictive they won’t outlast the first month. Pace yourself and be realistic.
  1. I will …”whatever”… for the rest of the year—Whatever you decide to try, make it for YOU and not the rest of the world. Don’t make “cookie cutter” resolutions, but, rather, think about things that matter to you personally and that are impactful to YOUR life. You don’t have to prove anything to anyone but yourself.

If you keep it real, you will have a much better chance of success.

The TUNG Brush and Gel team wishes you, your family and friends, a very HAPPY and HEALTHY New Year.  Stay safe and we will see you “next year”!
